Asking For Help on LinkedIn: A Potential Gold Mine

LinkedIn is an absolute treasure trove of opportunity.

In this post I would like to just make you aware of the unbelievable opportunities you have in simply asking for help.

Whatever you’re trying to do or accomplish don’t hesitate to post a question to your fellow LinkedIners asking for help. Do you have a freebie, ask people to grab it and tell you if it’s of value. Do you have a website, ask people to tell you what they think. Do you have an idea, get some feedback from your network.

You will be surprised just what you can get by asking. I recently needed some help with a webpage and converting an ASP page to PHP. I ended up going with someone I could trade services with, but I was offered by a couple of people to just do it for me for no charge.

If you happen to be searching for a job you may find that you can get contacts within key companies you are interested in by just asking the crowd. You may even find someone willing to introduce you.

One little bonus to all of this is that if you asking people to evaluate or give there opinions you are getting exposure for yourself at the same time.

Thank you for the offer and I do have several questions. How do you post a hyper link in what are you doing now?

Flyn @ 3:20 pm August 17, 2009

Jim… simply put the link in, see my profile, I have a link there now

Phil @ 3:22 pm August 17, 2009

this same piece of advice was recently given to me by a friend. I’ve started putting it to use so we’ll see what kind of results.

Your right. I believe there is a wealth of knowledge there. And people are ussually amazingly willing to help out.

Great advice. I’ve enjoyed using this strategy for a while now. It sure beats “Hey do you want to buy some insurance?”

Yes it is true, asking for help does work. I have asked for and recieved introductions to LinkedIn members who work for companies I am interested in working for.

Thanks so much for this helpful advice. I’m one of those people who find it hard to ask for help (I don’t want to ‘bother’ anyone). I will definitely take your advice and see what happens.
