The title of this post should really be: “To Monetize LinkedIn or Any Other Networking Activity You Will Need One Thing” as what I’m about to say applies almost all of your marketing efforts and to any kind of networking you might be doing.

Networking skills are great, but to really make LinkedIn work you have to have a mechanism in place to help you nurture visitors that come to your assets (blog, website, landing pages or whatever.).

This post is basically going to be a mini marketing lesson applied to making LinkedIn profitable. The concept we are going to discuss is “list building.”

What do you need?

If your profile or your post manage to get someone to visit your website it is critical that when they arrive they have some easy and enticing way to engage you directly. This will greatly help you to monetize LinkedIn.

The majority of visitors will not be ready to buy and likely have not made the key decision to buy. Most (90%+) will still be in the learning and investigation stage. But most will be real prospects as they have taken pro active action to visit you.

When landing on your website they need to find a strong call to action. You have to make them a very low risk high value offer that allows them to feel good about exchanging their name and email for your offer.

This is the start of a key marketing concept called “list building.” When the exchange takes place you have literally gained a new prospect. Just imagine if your website could put 50 new prospects or more into your list. Would that be of value? You bet!

Now all you have to do is build on that new relationship and potentially over time that could be your next customer.

With the tools and resources provided by the internet you can actually start and build this relationship automatically having your website or asset working in the background bringing the new prospects down the road to making that buying decision.
