Improving Your LinkedIn Results and Your Life

This is a very special heartfelt post that is not really specifically about LinkedIn at all. However, what I am about to recommend and share with you will definitely make your LinkedIn efforts far more successful.

Remember the last line of my post on simple visibility tactics the other day…

Do the little things and you’ll make the big difference.

This is the subject of this post. I am going to talk in terms of LinkedIn, but this philosophy applies to anything you do in life from trying to get fit to general self improvement.

Before I begin I would like to recommend the source of this data as a MUST read for anyone wishing to succeed on LinkedIn or in life. That source is the wonderful book by Jeff Olsen called “The Slight Edge.” Jeff is very worth listening to as he is responsible for creating hundreds of millionaires in his career not to mention his own incredible success. I was given a copy of this book by my own networking Guru.

This quote from page 26 of his book sums up the philosophy which he believes is the key to ultimate success on LinkedIn and in life. I quote:

You will be successful. And you will achieve those
aims, goals and dreams by doing simple things.”

I am not going to try to explain the whole concept of “The Slight Edge,” you should read the book.  I just wish to make this point. Each of the posts in this blog represent a simple strategy or tactic you can easily apply to your LinkedIn networking efforts. By “easily” I mean that it is not something hard to do, just about anyone could do it.

By themselves, anyone of these tips would probably make a negligible difference in your networking efforts. However, if you do all or even a handful of these simple things on a regular basis you will sooner than latter find yourself at the top. To quote Jeff again (page 26):

“That’s what successful people do: simple things that are easy to do.”

My four year old grandson has mastered courtesy. It’s not difficult to say “please” or “thank you,” but when this little four year old consistently hands you a “please” or “thank you” or “you’re welcome” every time it makes quite an impression. Though I am quite use to it, his simple and consistent application of courtesy continues to stop me in my tracks every so often as I realize how diligent he is at applying these simple things.

Take this lesson to your LinkedIn networking efforts and you will sore. Take the best practices and warnings in my blog and the success kit, and apply them consistently. You will soon have a powerful network that will do almost anything for you.

Finally, I will say it again — this is a book you MUST read.

If you have any trouble finding Jeff’s book go to the following link – which in this case is the combo pack including the CDs. It will be the best $20 you’ve spent in a very long time. Here’s the link: http://tinyurl.com/mbwu7b
